Too many ideas (or a brain like a butterfly…)
I’ve just got the new copy of Selvedge magazine, and as always it is beautiful, yet lethal at the same time. It is eye candy to the enth (?) degree, and what caught my eye first is an advert for Ghulam Sakina a clothing shop (with a still unacheiveable sale on!). The clothes are stunning, the mix of colours, patterns and detail are truely sumptious. And it reminded me of a fab book I have on 17th and 18th century clothing in detail. I can’t remember the exact title as i’ve lent it to my mum, and i’ll have to wait for the summer hols to get it back now, but I have been wanting to do something on that vein for ages. I love details, button holes, pleats, seams and I think that has been where my mind has been going over the last few months too. For the Fargao range of yarn jewellery that i’ve been working on, i’d started crocheting traditional edgings to add to the necklaces.
So, I think this will be the next project, after the above ones of course! (and the granny sq swap, and altering a skirt etc etc). The bag is going well, i did a couple of samples of aran and it wasn’t working, so i’ve re thought it, am about half way through, but will post some pics when i’m done. Though it will take all my will power, as i’m desperate to start on this new idea!
