Remember that photo from my last post, the mussels in the sand?

I’ve been playing…

What do you think?

Putting the photos side by side, its not as delicate.  But then again I wasn’t going for an exact copy, it was the composition of the shells and their graduating size that appealed to me.  Though I also liked the textures and the delicacy.  Initially it was going to be a sort of collar, but I couldn’t get it to work, then I for some reason it made me think of antique misers purses

For the background I went for a simple double crochet, and for the mussel shells I started in an ofset scallop, then gradually worked less trebles till I was just free forming it.

This idea has possibilities, different colour combinations, and I have a better idea how my collar idea mght work.  More experimentation required!

Wow, that is really lovely. It is fantastic that you have designed something so nice from something else. Inspiration at its best.
